2020 Joshua Pusser: Senior Co-Captain

by Doug Bailey

2020 Josh Pusser is named Co-Captain of the Saint Edward's Boys Varsity Lacrosse team.  He doesn't know he is being named to this group of senior co-captains; I was kind of trying to surprise him with a text after I finished writing this article!

Josh has had a storied lacrosse career for our Saint Edward's School.  He started as an eighth grader playing attack, mostly as an player who finished what others started.  As an eighth grader Josh tallied 13 goals that season.  He certainly worked hard, but one thing that stood out about Josh was his attention to detail and in our film study that year of Josh, he was never out of position!  Even his more veteran teammates could not pull off that trick!

Since then Josh has carried the burden and opportunity of being a dominant right hand player being asked to play the left side attacker in both 2018 and 2019 seasons.  He, more than most, has sacrificed his strength to focus on making our team stronger, and really has done a great job at being one of our team's unsung hero's!  No more.  Josh is now a Co-Captain, but not just for all that he has already done.

You see, Josh is declaratively, the hardest worker on the team.  When practice starts to the time it finishes, no one puts more mind, body and spirit into a practice.  Our players and coaches recognize it, and this is my way of recognizing his ability to demonstrate to our team how much of a role model he is on the field of practice and play.

Let's review Josh's lacrosse history at Saint Edward's School as an attackman:

2016:  13g, 0a, 13pts

2017:  22g, 5a, 27pts,  11gbs,  2nd Team Attack District 23,  District 23 Championship #1

2018:  21g, 13a, 34pts, 8gbs,  1st Team Attack District 23, District 23 Championship #2

2019:  23g, 23a, 46pts, 32gbs, 2nd Team Attack District 23, 1st Team TCPalm Regional Attack, District 23 Championship #3

            and #12 FHSAA ranking!

2020:  Can't wait to see where Josh will help lead us this coming year!
