2020 Sam Cardosi: Senior Co-Captain and Florida Tech University commit!

by Doug Bailey

Sam Cardosi has verbally committed to NCAA Division II Florida Institute of Technology, the College Gazette's #1 ranked Engineering School Just As Good as the Ivies https://collegegazette.com/top-10-hidden-gem-engineering-schools/4/

Sam is very much interested in combining a desire to pursue in aeronautical career path and his love for the game of lacrosse, and Florida Tech certainly fits those goals, and he is excited about his opportunities here.

Sam will once again lead us as co-captain into our 2020 FHSAA lacrosse season.  Sam is a solid defender, both on and off ball, and he excels in the clearing game too.  Sam plays great position, and is excellent at "staying on hands' and creating turnovers.  And a college coach out there will love how he can "throw the wood" with accuracy and authority in such a short stroke with his defensive long pole!  He also does a very nice job at setting the opponent's stick protection for a takeaway.  Sam is just a very heady player whose physical strength defines what he brings to his assignment(s).

Sam is underrated as a player (Florida) in some respects; he just quietly goes about his business of setting the tone and encouraging his teammates to work together while mentoring the young close defenders and SSM's.  His value as a player is not lost on his teammates or coaches who respect his urgency on the practice and game field for his team in every moment.

Sam has great work ethic on the field, and he flourishes in the weight room too, and has really beefed up his 6'0" 165lbs frame.  Sam has always been tough, but his hard work has turned him into 'college ready' player who can be a very physical presence, as well as play with some finesse.

Sam sports 4.0 GPA in the classroom, is very interested in an aeronautical career, and he is currently looking to enroll and play lacrosse at either Division II power Florida Institute of Technology and Division II start-up Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
