 SES Most Improved Defense-Freshman

Coach Bailey:  2020 Mac Carnell #22, Defense Varsity career: Mac popped into my office in early Feb, informed me he was coming back after a 2 year reinventing himself campaign. I literally jumped out of my chair! We immediately became a better team, my staff & I better coaches!

Coach Keating:  #22 Mac Carnell - we missed you for two years, but you were a welcome addition to our defensive corps this year - it was almost like you hadn't missed any time at all - thanks for giving it one more try.

Coach O’Brien:  Only got to know Mac for the three weeks we had him. Strong, competitive, and will run through a wall for you. He is a guy you want with you in the trenches.

Coach Wolcott:  A role model for every ST. Eds student. Worked hard in every practice to improve his skills and would listen when coached. He was always there when you needed him and when mistakes were made he is the type of person that leaned from them. A solid kid.

Mom & Dad Carnell: Mac’s lacrosse journey has been one of discipline, mental acuity, endurance and toughness. Playing through physical setbacks as a middle schooler and as a Freshman, a District Championship as a Freshman, and into a COVID shortened Senior year, Mac’s journey in lacrosse reminds us of the historical roots of lacrosse once used as a ritual to toughen up young warriors. Wendy and I watched in admiration as Mac on his own volition pushed through and further developed physical and mental resilience that will fortify him as he takes his next step into college. The uniqueness of the STEDS Lacrosse program is rooted in the relentless positive approach brought by Coach Bailey and the rest of the coaching staff that brings out the best in these young men.

Mac’s words:

Favorite SES Boys Lacrosse moment(s) during your tenure:

Playing in the district finals man down freshman year & the Jupiter Christian game senior year

One thing you are very proud of that you brought to your team as a player and/or person throughout your HS Lacrosse career:

I was happy to round out the close defensive force that was Toomey and Cardosi

A lacrosse moment you or team moment you will never forget!

Winning districts freshman year after drought.

College you will be attending in Fall, or your next step in life toward your career goals:

I will be attending the University of Florida and plan to major in applied kinesiology and physiology working towards a degree in physical therapy

Gratitude:

I would like to thank Coach Greenfield for instilling defensive concepts into me in middle school, travel Mavericks, and freshman year. I would also like to thank Coach Bailey for convincing me to come back out senior year and for having unparalleled energy and enthusiasm, as well as being a great coach to play under.
