2021 Pirates' Lacrosse Awards

All,

It's with much content that this year's awards are such a problem to assign.  All year long I kept telling this group how deep we are with our depth.  I'm not sure whether they believed me or not, but the fact that we were able to utilize freshman and sophs on the field of play in key roles or in certain situations was amazingly comforting.  To make the dilemma more intriguing it had gotten to the point that we as coaches were arguing on the sideline as to who should go in in certain spots.

Yes, the wonderful problem was all the boys were improving tremendously with their learning and understanding.  I won't pull punches here, we have some unsung  heroes like Kieran Colgan, who is a tremendous talent in goal.  We all know it, we all see it in practice everyday.  We have no better long pole with defensive positioning on and off ball than Stone Colgan (that includes the seniors!). Will Russell had a tremendous year, and there is no question that for riding and clearing purposes, including dodging on the perimeter, I decided in the playoffs to utilize six players who are also dodgers in our offense scheme in the playoffs.  Our future is quite bright with these freshman and I'm hopeful we will see Harrison Hardin on the field again.

We have some excellent up and coming sophomores, like Cooper Naughtin, Josh Langsam, Dylan Redmon and Sam Thomas who improved tremendously and will be counted on next lacrosse season to become regulars in our line-up.

I'm excited for our 2022 lacrosse season, and our ability to learn to learn to improvise and overcome all obstacles together!
