2024 HS & MS Teams Preseason Meeting: Tues Jan 16, '24
Preseason Boys MS & HS Schedule update:
1. Are you Coachable?
a. WE ARE about Personal Growth and Development, no matter our age or yours. WE ARE also very much into enjoying the school, you and your teammates, as well as our staff team and believe it or not, parents. I'm a parent, so inherently, I/we like getting to know your parents as team members, not adversaries.
Before you go home and complain, vent or get tied up by your own thoughts, ask yourself one question:
How or What can I do better to help my team? That's the WE question!
-If you answer that question honestly, you have no reason to vent or complain, just time to get busy being great working both hard and smart.
-If you cannot answer that question, ask your coach that question. Start with something simple, and frankly begin studying others who are having success.
-If you ask your parents that question, they will hopefully directly advise you to ask your coach.
-Most times frustration takes place as a player, parent, or even as a coach is when we don't answer the WE question.
*HS Boys Lacrosse which includes 8th graders will start on Mon January 22.
1. Equipment/Practice Gear handout for 8th graders will take place during their Physical Education class this week.
-Practice Reversible and Shorts are mandatory every practice.
-8th graders will get big lockers in the MS locker room, and they must keep a lock on their locker.

3. Varsity and JV players (this includes 8th graders) will practice out at SoCoPark until the soccer teams (boys and girls) finish their seasons. School bus leaves at 3:30-3:35 pm for South County Park for anyone who doesn't drive. Varsity players may drive to SoCoPark, but they may not give 8th graders or 9th graders rides to SoCoPark.
-Practices will be tiered and differentiated, sometimes JV players will mix with Varsity players in practice for instructions and drills, and sometimes we will work separately and specifically with tiered groups or collective teams, ie Varsity and JV).
-Saturday practices are not optional for Varsity/JV players...we are going to keep them short and sweet... helmets, sticks, and gloves, usually 8:00 am to 9:15 am.

Hazing (is illegal) is not a part of Athletics, nor is it part of Boys' Lacrosse at Saint Edward's. Here's how it works...You are expected to be mindful of the safety (mental, social and physical well being) of you and your teammates in the locker room, on and off campus.
Practices are mandatory. Be on time for practices, and/or communicate with your coaches. WATER BOTTLES are the players' responsibility!
Locker Room expectations:
a. Cleanliness is next to Godliness! Nothing on the floor before, during or after practice.
b. Laundry: ONCE WE ARE BACK ON CAMPUS!
Varsity and JV players (includes 8th graders): Laundry is done here on a daily basis, all you need to do if you want something washed is to put it in the washer. No Game Uniforms or Undershirts are to go home, and no Practice Pinnies or Shorts are to go home.
MS Players: 6th & 7th & 8th graders...MS uniforms including T-shirts will be assigned and you need them locked up in your locker.
Team Game Day Meals:
Our Varsity Team Parents will be in touch with how we will handle this.

JV Team Parents: ?
MS Team Parents: ?
-What's App? I believe the varsity parents have something like this going?
-Moms and Dads Team Meeting(s) with Coaches, which are strictly about what we are doing on the lacrosse field, and the purpose behind doing what we are doing. Voluntary.
-For multiple reasons including building off-the-field team chemistry, peer accountability of student-athlete drug and alcohol prevention during the Spring, we will actively work at trying to do voluntary team dinners at the Varsity level.
