2024 Seniors
Reed Sternberg (Captain), Midfield/Attack:
Reed Sternberg is a multi-dimensional lacrosse player. Gifted with quickness, speed, and talent and maybe even more gifted with a competitive spirit and excitement for life with the ability to seize any opportunity.
He made a massive gain in his ability to maximize his offensive opportunities in his junior year becoming a finisher at the varsity level. He is extremely energetic and is so effective in wing play on the face-off that he is unrivaled in that spot. He is a stud playing one-on-one defense and causing turnovers, as well as his ability to effectively help with clearing and transition opportunities.
He made the Florida All-State team last year as a junior midfielder and was honored as a US Lacrosse South Region first-team midfielder. Reed Sternberg's stats were unbelievable when measured as a do-everything two-way midfielder; and in some ways was really the heart and soul of our team. These are his career stats:
Reed's desire, dedication, and determination to help his team succeed have earned him his next role as our 2024 Captain.
Stone Colgan, Close Defense:
Stone isn't huge in a physical sense, but when he is determined he becomes a huge part of our defensive success. In 2023, he was one of our most effective defenders in great wins over Saint Aquinas and IMG in what proved to be our team's most productive defensive efforts all year.
In Stone's '22 Spring season, Stone was utilized in roles on man-down defense and individual match-ups where some others struggled. In '23, Stone became a starter and someone who was learning to become a difference-maker. In 2024, Stone will be counted on to become a leader who demonstrates a commitment to consistency as well as a role model for the young defenders.
So, will our defensive effectiveness depend on Stone's ability to learn from last year's ups and downs to become a consistent contributor in his senior season? Frankly yes, and frankly Stone's team needs him to be that player that anchors the Pirate defensive ship!
Can't wait to see this young man's growth in becoming a leader in 2024! Stone is also an exceptional student academically, and plays piano professionally.

Kieran Colgan, Goalie
Kieran had an excellent season in his first full year as a starter. He had an incredible effort against #1 Saint Andrew's with 17 saves, and helped lead his team to Saint Andrew's first and only FHSAA loss in 2023. He also had very strong games against powerhouses Saint Aquinas and IMG, securing 8-7 victories.
There were times during the 2023 season when Kieran was just remarkable in goal, even when we didn't give him enough support trying to change our opponent's shots, and then there were times some got by him that really was off his normal. All that said, he's back as our starting goalie and ready to help lead his team defensively as a leader both in practice and in games. Kieran whether he realizes or not, helped us navigate the toughest schedule in Florida HS play and helped us to our 13-5 record and make it to the Regional semi-finals.
Kieran was selected 2024 Treasure Coast First Team Goalie by TC Palm writers. Kieran is exceptional in his academic pursuit, and we are counting on his focus to lead the 2024 squad! Will Russell, Attack/Midfield
Will has had a leap in improvement every year with the Pirates. He's a crease-attack finishing machine who has slowly expanded his game becoming a player who can be competitive on the perimeter as a dodger too. Will can shake and bake creating freehands and he has the body size and mindset to beat an opponent to the spot using a variety of dodges. This year, we expect him to utilize his strength and size to create for his teammates or take advantage of his mismatches.
Will received Treasure Coast Honorable Mention for his work as an attackman in 2024, and hopefully will be able to assert his Will this year as a senior. Will will also be counted on to help lead his team on and off the field.
Will's hidden gem of a secret is that he can play defense well, both as a shortie and a long pole, and better yet he enjoys it!

Luke Herrman, Attack/Midfield
Luke arrived on the scene at Saint Edward's with hopes and dreams of playing on a big stage. He progressed through our season slowly learning expectations and breaking bad habits, but the raw talent was there. He worked at O-Mid and D-Mid through the regular season, even had some runs at LSM, and Face-off. It wasn't till later in the season due to an injury to Will Russell that the coaching staff found perhaps Luke's best position, attack.
In a monster Regional semi-final game, Luke cut up the LHP defense both on-ball and off-ball to create a great comeback in the game hosted at LHP. We didn't ultimately win that game, losing by one 12-11, but Luke handled his business quite well after the Pirates fell behind 7-1 by the end of the first quarter, eventually taking a 10-9 lead!
We are excited about all the lessons that he learned in his first season at Saint Edward's. It wasn't always roses during Luke's journey, however, he made great strides and we feel as though his senior season is really his time to shine, as a team that doesn't duck anyone and our schedule will challenge us and Luke! Don't be surprised if you see #6 reaching his high school potential this Spring 2024.

Harrison Hardin, Attack/Midfield
Harrison is very athletic and a very cordial and polite young man, almost unassuming really. Harrison loves surfing! Probably has something to do with calming his mind, exciting his curiosity, and providing the space he needs to reflect on the past, present, and future.
Harrison likes lacrosse and sports in general. Honestly, he's that talented, he could be if he wanted to be, the best single talent at Saint Edward's. So frankly, we are excited about Harrison's senior season. Why? Well, every once in awhile last year we saw bursts of what Harrison can be. And if that's how he approaches his senior season, his teammates are going to see what I mean by he hasn't yet shown us everything he's got.
If Harrison has that breakout season, the rest of the FHSAA is going to be asking where did we get this kid?!

Luke Damiani, Close Defense
Luke played baseball. Luke wanted to learn lacrosse! We welcomed Luke and we quickly learned that Luke's passion for learning and his curiosity about lacrosse was pushing him each and every practice to fight through the difficulty of learning a new sport. Luke eventually started looking like a lacrosse player about 3/4's of the season completed, but still with some hesitation due to uncertainly and inexperience. And you might think that would be the end of this story, but not when we are talking about Luke.
Luke kept fighting and eventually showed some promise in a regional first-round game, then in the regional quarterfinal he got his chance as a starter against Bishop Moore and he didn't surrender to the pressure of his first start nor his first play-off lacrosse game experience.
We don't know when we will get Luke back on the field this season due to an injury that has crippled his ability to work this Fall at his game, but maybe just maybe he will surprise us all again with his work ethic and desire to see the field in 2024, once he is cleared of his injury.
If Luke has a motto, it might sound like this: "It doesn't matter where you start, it only matters where you finish." I think Luke has his sights set! Luke's 2023 stats: https://www.maxpreps.com/fl/vero-beach/st-edwards-pirates/athletes/luke-damiani/lacrosse/stats/?careerid=pdpst39ch0277
