April... and in addition, May Matters! 2021 Season by the Numbers!

All,

In my preseason notes to Florida Lacrosse News as our Varsity Season Preview, I wrote to Lee Roggenburg that "We are excited and ready to be Unmasked and Unleashed after after a disappointing 2020 nationwide ending.  We have our 2020 Vision as our 2021 Motivation.  Our season doesn't end until we decide it ends.  We will be RELENTLESS!"

Well, the 2021 Varsity Team were all of that and truly our season did not end until the last possible play day of the FHSAA Lacrosse season , on Championship Day.

A fantastic season of learning and growing as a team throughout the season, hurdling one obstacle after another!  You are a REMARKABLE and RELENTLESS group of young men!

Personally, I'd like to thank:

1. Our assistant coaches; mainly because they have to put up with me!  Technically they don't, but thank goodness they do!

2. Special shout out to Coach Bill Keating who is the glue!  His perspectives and his game breakdowns/stat compilations for our Lacrosse Team is INVALUABLE!

3.  Our Team Parents!  Moms and Dads, but our Team Moms rock!  I mean there is no other way to put it; Team Moms & Dads... that trophy is a symbol of your never ending devotion to helping your student-athlete navigate school, home and personable responsibility to their teammates!

4. The School for its' continued support of our MS and HS Lacrosse program and me.  By the school I mean the people of Saint Edward's School.  Despite all obstacles, we improvise and overcome, we pull together and figure it out!  That is what we ask of our students and it is what we model!  Our students-athletes just figured it out!

5. Our players: the ones who stay, learn to become the "Reason for our Success!" no matter where they may be on the spectrum of lacrosse growth and development!  No finer group of just young men! learning together!

6. My wife:  she is patient and allows me to be me; it's all a man can ask for in a relationship!  She is my MVP...erson!

The 2021 SES Lacrosse Team's FUTURE is now written in stone, now in the past, and for the present!  You made it a GREAT story you can tell your children and grandchildren someday!

You played with BT's "Spirit for Competition and Life!"

You played for each other! and

You played for your School!

I'm extremely proud of you. You gave an old man some great memories and stories to tell my grandchildren, too!  And you gave me future teams a tale to tell of resilience and perseverance!  The 2021 team lives on! Well done!

From SES Lacrosse Alum Robb "Coach" Greenfield: "Coach that was an incredible job getting this group to the state championship game. It was quite an achievement, no other way to describe it. For the young guys coming back the loss surely provides all the motivation they need to get bigger stronger and better. As a former player It felt great  to hold my head high and walk around with a chip on  my shoulder the last few weeks."

And then this sums it up uniquely and maybe best from a parent:
"How often do you get to wake up your son to “Hey, you’re playing for a state championship today! Let’s GO!”
What a great day!"

You left it all on the Field boys!  No one can ask more!
