2. Welcoming new players and families to Saint Edward's Lacrosse.
3. Investment requires buy-in, Strategy/Goals bring Discipline, Patience & Respect pay Dividends!
a. Investment is a must; there are no short-cuts.
b. Strategy and Goals- these can look different depending on your starting point.
c. Patience and Respect- Respect your teammates, Respect your coaches, Development and Team Chemistry takes time and energy.
4. Hazing is not a part of Athletics, nor is it part of Boys' Lacrosse at Saint Edward's. Here's how it works...You are expected to be mindful of the safety of you and your teammates in the lockerroom, on and off campus.
5. Practices are mandatory. Be on time for practices, or communicate with your coaches. WATER BOTTLES!
-First two or three weeks: Sometimes we will be at South County for practice. It will be on M-W-F practices, stretching promptly at 3:45pm, practice will end at 5:30pm. Tues and Thurs will be at Saint Edward's, our MS Lacrosse team is at South County on those days.
-When girls and boys soccer ends, then our practice schedule will be different and will be flexible here at Saint Edward's School based on stadium field availability.
-Practice Uniform gear is mandatory (see Laundry below); the exception to taking the practice gear home is SoCoPark practices.
-Flexibility of practice schedule.
6. Locker Room expectations:
a. Cleanliness is next to Godliness! Nothing on the floor before, during or after practice.
b. Each locker will be assigned.
c. Laundry: No Game Uniforms or Undershirts are to go home, and no Practice Pinnies or Shorts are to go home.
-Laundry is done here on a daily basis, all you need to do if you want something washed is to put it in the washer.
7. Team Game Day Meals:
a. We are going to use the football teams' model.
b. Email will be sent out to parents and athletes, I only need responses from persons who want the meal, and then the student's FLIK account will be charged once the order is placed/fulfilled.
8. Schedule & Travel Policy
-Boys are to go home on the Athletic Team Bus/Charter. The exception is granted for athletes who live closer along the way from the venue we are playing at.
For instance:
SE vs TBS: Ethan Ball lives in Port St. Lucie, he can go home from the game with mom and dad.
SE vs MV: Luke & Rex Herrman live in Satalitte Beach, they can go home with mom and dad.
9. The High School "Elephant in the Room"- Alcohol/Substance Use & Abuse
-When you were born... Coach Bailey's thoughts.
It's more important than ever to stay true to keep in mind the following:
1. Eat Right(proper nutrition/you really are what you eat!),
2. Exercise(be active)daily,
3. get Plenty of Rest(sleep well, think well),
4. and live each day with a Spiritual PurposeBuildingPositive Relationships(be a good soul).
5. Learn (be curious and explore the lessons in life and in/out of the classroom, while listening carefully to the wisdom of elders, and frankly don't believe all that you see or hear; be somewhat skeptical).
5. Why is this important? Individual-Preservation (you, your performance and immune strength) and Team Preservation (our ability to help get us where we are going)! The phrase I like to use: "Excellence starts with you/me, Excellence is ultimately us" to convey that message of why it is so important to take care of yourself and be mindful of the fact that we "Run this Ship, Together!
-March 3rd/4th Games and Overnight Stay at Hotel.
-Pinecrest on the 3rd, Overnight at Hotel, Gulliver Prep on the 4th.
-The online Field Trip Form/Permission (Parents/Players)
- Assigned rooms. You will most likely be scheduled with a Graduation Year classmate(s).
10. Communications-
-Email and our Saint Edward's Twitter.
-What's App? I have no idea how to use this but I'm thinking we should have something where we all download an app and utilize this for team communications. What do you (Players/Parents) recommend?
-Moms and Dads Team Meeting(s) with Coaches, which are strictly about what we are doing on the lacrosse field, and the purpose behind doing what we are doing. Voluntary.
-For multiple reasons including building off-the-field team chemistry, reinforcement and prevention of student-athlete drug and alcohol use during the Spring, we are actively working at trying to do voluntary team dinners (some to include parents on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.)
11. Practice schedule and traveling to practice facility at South County Park
-You are allowed to drive to SoCoPark for these early season practices.
-You are allowed to take other players in your car if they have parents written permission to both Greg Zugrave and Coach Bailey. I'm going to set up a Shared Google spreadsheet so that there are no mysteries.
-You need Permission to ride along with a player who is driving. If you cannot find a ride, no problem. I have room for three or four players in my truck.
-Under no circumstance, are you to worry about getting to practice in a manner that would be considered speeding or trying to hurry because you think you will be late. There is more than sufficient time to get to the SoCoPark, so the key will be...are you making a practice of being late.
