Athlete Evaluation

November 2022:  Co-Captain of 2023

June 2022: Ford is an excellent talent, an extremely capable midfielder or attackman. He joined us in the middle of lacrosse season coming back from an ACL surgery in July of 2021. He made an immediate impact in his first game back scoring 6 goals and 1 assist against a very good Benjamin squad. He also scored 3 goals and 3 assists against a superb Episcopal of Dallas team. Ford is perhaps our best talent offensively on this team. He draws so much attention from opposing defenses, and his weakness is that he sometimes tries to do too much on his own and sometimes he makes me look like a great coach with that 'weakness."  Ford scored 37g, 17a for 54 points in 2022, on a shortened season due to his recovery from an ACL injury from the summer of 2021.

When he shares the ball, he is an unstoppable force on offense! He's D1 level material!

May 2021: Ford joined our team late in the season because of the SES soccer playoff run extending long into our season, but he immediately stepped into our lineup and helped us to FHSAA District and Regional Championships, and a State Semi-Final victory. Ford also scored 3 times in our loss in the State Final vs Saint Andrew's. Ford is just a talent!  Afraid of nothing and no moment on the field too big!  He has talent written all over him both in the classroom and on the field!   Ford's season was shortened by the deep playoff run his soccer team made in the State playoffs, but he still made a huge impact adding 27g, 9a for 34 points in basically half of a 2021 season left.

Jan 2021: Saint Edward's School's sophomore Elgin "Ford" Norris, a top 2023 High School Prospect from Vero Beach, FL. A few brief bullet points:
*He's a future NCAA Division I ball player.
*Will start on our varsity lacrosse team at attack as a sophomore.
He played midfield and attack as a freshman
*We will be utilizing his versatility with his left and right-hand shooting and feeding capabilities.
*Ford is also an excellent student, 3.9 GPA.
*Ford is currently a starter on our boy's varsity soccer team as a sophomore (who just won their District Championship and Regional Champions)
*He is also an excellent talent at basketball, especially as a point guard directing, creating offense, and distributing the ball or finishing (much like his lacrosse abilities).

It will be interesting to see which varsity sport he plays next Winter since he is very proficient at both sports; thank goodness for his lacrosse teammates and our coaching staff, his first love is the Spring Lacrosse season!

*Ford is a very personable young man and an absolute pleasure to speak with.
*He is a very coachable young man, who is also a talented musician and singer.
*Ford is simply a tough young man, a huge competitor, loves initiating contact even as a sophomore but is very difficult for defenders to make contact with him, and truly embraces the big moments in the game (he wants the ball)!

Dec 2020: Ford Norris continues to further his game as a young HS sophomore with Division I talent and ability. First, Ford is a tough kid and he is not afraid of contact, initiating it, or creating it. Ford is a prototype offensive midfielder or attackman; meaning he understands the game and has the ability to easily navigate from one position to the other. As a sophomore, he is very coachable and compliments our need to have a "Righty or Lefty" attackman who can get to the island and create a shot for himself from either side of the goal, or create the slide and find the open man either in the crease or on the perimeter.

Ford has a characteristic that is reserved for those who thrive in big moments, he wants the ball and he wants the ball with the game on the line pressure! He has become very good at understanding that 6 v 6 offense is about creating an EMO play that increases the chance for team success and really demonstrated that in his role as a midfielder at our HS-A championship in the well-attended Orlando Open this past Dec 5-6.

I love what this kid brings to the table, his versatility but also his great field sense and dodging ability which is uncanny, meaning he leaves the defender easily guessing even when the defender is trying to take away something!

Ford plays for the Dukes 2023 HS Elite team with Ebe Helm, and plays with our Hometown team DukesFLA- Team Maverick Club.

Sept 2020: FORD Strong!!!!! SES Soph FORD NORRIS, Mid/Att, Dukes 2023-24 HS Elite, DukesFLA-Team Maverick; so versatile & aware on the field of play; makes plays, attacks LPs, thrives in big moments! He helped his 2023-24 Dukes HS Elite team win the Liberty National Classic this past summer and had a fantastic "shortened COVID" HS season last spring as a freshman.

Ford is growing like a weed and is so deceptive, and powerful in his play. He's blessed with the ability to discipline his game and his work ethic is second to none. I think that what makes Ford special is he wants the ball in big moments! And he can deliver!

Oct 2019: Ford is a freshman, but has some Varsity Lacrosse experience as an 8th grader who I brought up for our playoff run from our MS team. Ford is an excellent, talented offensive player. Tough as nails, and a pretty heady ball player. Ford is a superior, disciplined athlete who is an excellent student. He's going to be an extremely good player for us. He will be part of a freshman midfield line that won't play like freshman. Ford and his freshman counterparts (Ricky Savage and Eli Barin) are going to cause problems for even some experienced mature HS defenses!”
