National Letter of Intent Signing Day 2022: Ricky Savage

by Doug Bailey

Ricky Savage, Midfield; Loyola Commit

Athlete Evaluation

September 2022:  Co-Captain of 2023

July 2022: First team All-State Midfielder, First team All-District Midfielder, First team USLacrosse Florida South Chapter Midfielder. Every one of our opponents makes Ricky the player they try to limit on offense. Ricky had 62g, 14a, 76pts. That says it all. Loyola commit!

May 2021: Ricky Savage made First Team Midfield for our Class 1A District 8 League, helped his team secure a 16-5 record, winning Championships in our District and Regional play, as well as helping to secure a Florida State HS Semi-Final win and our first appearance in the FHSAA Class 1A Championship.

His Sophomore HS Highlights are pretty special:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPHDjBQQe1E

Ricky ended with 43g, 20a; and 31gb's as well as contributing to our success with some phenomenal play that is just short of Superman status (and I'm not kidding!)

Ricky is gifted with athleticism and the skill to match.  What is really amazing is what comes next in his junior year.  I mean I have no idea how opponents will stop him considering his physical gifts and his Lax IQ!

Dec 2020: Ricky Savage keeps on progressing his game every time I see him take the field. Athletically, he sets himself above everyone on the lacrosse field even as a sophomore. But he is transitioning using pure physical talent and ability, to a player who is becoming a very smart HS player.

Two things really stood out in our HS-A Championship at the Orlando Open:

1. He wants on the field as much as possible and he wants to ball. More importantly, he understands that he can make plays with and without the ball, and most importantly help finish our opponent, both offensively, defensively or in transition!

2. He competes using strategic thinking, staying one step ahead of his opponent; setting up his defender on and off ball, becoming much attuned to "what to do when defenses work to take something away," and is becoming a role model of how to do just those things! Ricky is a superb Div 1 talent! An impact midfielder no matter if you need defense, offense or in transition. He really can do it all!

Sept 2020: Wait till you see what will be unleashed on Michael J. Mersky Stadium in the Spring of 2021.  Ricky Savage missed his freshman season due to a basketball injury, but he's back and he is blessed with speed, size, and agility. Ricky has a knack for making the field his playground!

And you thought the SAVAGE NATION was a radio program! Don't miss SES Sophomore Ricky Savage, Midfield; Dukes 2023-24 HS Elite, DukesFLA-Team Mavericks, 2023-24 UnderAmour All-America. His 2020 Summer Tape: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTFAEjBmu3U&feature=youtu.be Ricky has many God-given physical gifts, and he may be the nicest young man you ever met that will put a beating on his opponent both offensively and defensively throughout the game. One of the neatest things I enjoy about Ricky Savage is he never loses his cool! Never! Cannot wait for you to see Ricky this Spring!

Jan 2020: Ricky is a Division I player. Size, strength and speed; and as a ninth grader can impose his will in a game...which I find absolutely amazing! He had a great Fall Ball with Dukes 2023 HS Elite up North, and Coach Ebe Helm was fascinated with his ability. He plays basketball too, and had a freak accident that caused him to tear his labrum in a basketball game recently that requires surgery. He won't play any HS ball this season, but catch him again this summer!

May 2019: Absolute stud athlete. Absolutely will be on the varsity field as a two-way midfielder in 2020... at one point during the season we moved him to Close defense and LSM because we had an injury that required us to ‘make up’ for that loss, Ricky did a great job for us in that capacity on the varsity field! Speed, quickness, and strength. Plays for Team 91 Florida 2023’s.

8th grade Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqO_qvwSIGo

Feb 2019: Ricky Savage is an 8th grader at Saint Edward's School. We are moving him up to our varsity roster this Spring 2019, because his skills and concept development, as well as his application, is excellent.  His physical maturity is ready for more than we can offer at the MS level.

Currently, he trains with Duke's LC and Team 91 out of Florida, and I have no doubt that Ricky will be seeing plenty of time as an 8th grader on our varsity squad this Spring. He's just ready for that challenge, and he will have success. A special athlete!
