Coach Bailey:  2020 Luke Jayne #10 Midfield/Attack, Captain Varsity career: Luke's presence on the field pales in comparison with his ability to effect the outcome of a game; offense, defense & game impact! He thrives on being the guy!  For more on Luke being named 2020 co-captain and his college choice, go here:  http://steds.lacrosseshift.com/news/2020-luke-jayne

Coach Keating:  #10 Luke Jayne - the quiet assassin:) it was a pleasure watching your development over the last three years - this was supposed to be your chance to drive a team to and through the big game - well, continue to develop, stay hungry and carry your next team.

Coach O’Brien:  The most coachable young man I have come across. Incredible talent, coupled with the willingness to keep learning.  Luke brought confidence to his teammates as he showed maturity on the field. FIT is lucky.

Coach Wolcott:  Would like to have him 4 more years. What he showed in his rehab effort was truly remarkable. His desire to be ready when he got his OK to play showed me a work ethic that will carry him through life. Besides his talent he was so coachable and even on the sidelines in practice when he couldn’t play he would watch and listen through the whole practice . If he stays healthy he will do well in college.

Mom & Dad:  Luke's lacrosse journey started when he was 8. His first team was Martin County Pioneers. He picked up the sport very quickly and was hooked.  He had a lot to learn but even as a beginner he was a standout. It was the whole family's introduction to lacrosse and we all fell in love with it.

It has been an adventure and wonderful journey to watch him grow. He played for Palm Beach Revolution, Sweetlax Florida and Dukes. His freshman year he played for MCHS. It was a special season because for the first time he was on the same team as his brother Zach. Sophomore year he was blessed to be transferred to St. Edward's School and what an amazing experience and opportunity it has been. We are so grateful he was given this chance to attend SES.

Luke’s words:

My favorite moment as a SES lacrosse player:

Winning the district championship last year (2019) was probably my favorite moment of my career at SES.

One thing I am very proud of that I brought to this team:

The bond that all of us had as teammates was incredible, it was like a family.

A lacrosse moment I will never forget:

The spring break trip last year was awesome. It was really fun beating Maclay and Montverde and then going to a water park with the team.

Post- Graduation:

I will be attending FIT, to study Mechanical Engineering.

Gratitude:

Thank you to all of the coaching staff at SES, and the faculty that helped our lacrosse team. Thank you to my family for always being there and having faith in the lacrosse community at SES. The last 3 years have been great and I’m excited to see where the lacrosse team goes in the future.
