Agenda Items for 2021 MS Boys Lax Parent/Coaches/Players Meetings

Welcome

1. Paperwork and Safety Updates for Athletics and Administration

Forms:  http://steds.lacrosseshift.com/news/2021-mandatory-fhsaa-forms-for-ms-hs-players

Equipment Safety Updates:  Beginning in 2021, the use of goalie chest protectors that meet the new NOCSAE performance standard will be mandatory in the US Lacrosse boys’ and girls’ youth rules, the NFHS boys’ and girls’ high school rules, and the NCAA men’s and women’s rules.

  • Goalie chest protectors used after January 1, 2021 must be designed for lacrosse and meet the NOCSAE standard, ND200.  (Good news, all our Goalie Chest Protectors do meet these standards because I started changing our chest protectors a few years ago for this very day.)
  • Beginning in 2022, US Lacrosse boys’ field players, NFHS boys’ field players, and NCAA men’s field players must also wear chest protection that meets the NOCSAE ND200 standard.
  • The NOCSAE standard is a performance standard, not a design standard.
  • Product designs will likely vary from one manufacturer to another.
  • Products must contain the NOCSAE logo and SEI certification mark to be legal for play.
  • There must be marking on both the packaging and product that states that the product conforms to NOCSAE standard ND200.

Snacks... on own to purchase them from the Pirate Cove or Flik, or bring in from outside source.

6. Committee (Formation)

Scoring Table I prefer adults doing the book, injured players helping be scouts!  Home games need (2); Away games (2).

After Game, Pizza or other for "on the way BUS RIDE home" from AWAY games (Committee) that are in Jupiter, Stuart, etc.

Water/Gatorade:  Students are required to bring their own water bottles for refill.  Game days you may want to send your son to school with gatorade bottle too, however, they can always purchase a gatorade from FLIK.

8.  What does your son need?

a. Stick(s).

MS Players and Parents:

Is you son new to the game?  Not very expensive, and gets them off to a good start!  There will be time when a player advances that they may want another kind of stick, but sincerely, this is a great stick to start off with!

*As a player becomes more advanced, they will want a stronger/durable and yet lightweight handle... trouble is, those are not cheap.  Also stick heads are developed for certain aspects of the game, and you will see that those can get expensive too.

But those more expensive sticks are not necessary as a beginner, truly the below stick will help get them off on the right foot without breaking the bank!

f. Athletic Cup... to be or not to be?  that is the question?

When I played college ball, I played with a cup on!

Absolutely MANDATORY FOR ALL GOALIES!

Absolutely RECOMMENDED FOR ALL PLAYERS!

That said, our coaches will ask goalies and others if they have their "Cup" on, but our coaches do not check!

Goalies are not allowed to take shots if they don't have a cup on!
